Objectives:
1. To be able to order numbers
2. To recognize and order ordinal numbers (1st - 10th)
3. To understand different ways to measure time.- This week we continue to focus on ordering, and will introduce ordinal numbers. We are also focusing on understanding the different ways to measure time (our day, time, calendar).
- PLEASE continue reviewing at home, some of the bigger topics we have touched on : adding/subtracting, tens/ones, numbers up to 40, number bonds. Repetition is so important for our young kiddos!
Reading
Objectives:
1. To begin reading and accurately blending words and sentences with hard and soft c and g.
2. To be able to verbalize understanding of the spelling rule applying to the sounds of c and g.
3. To continue to grow in reading fluency.
- Remember to begin the lessons by reviewing our current sight words and reading over words/sentences from previous lessons. *Reviewing and repetition is key!
- This week we focus on the hard and soft sounds of "c" and "g". We learned in AAS that when "c" is followed by e, i, or y, it makes the soft sound. The same rule applies for "g".
- Please follow up each lesson and mini book review, by having your child read to you, a book at their appropriate level. This should be done at a separate time of the day from their OPG lesson.

Writing
Objectives:
1. To be able to form all upper case letters properly on handwriting lines.
2. To be able to form all lower case letters properly on handwriting lines.
3. To be able to write first and last name properly on handwriting lines.
4. To be able to accurately copy a sentence (using handwriting lines) correctly- Keep monitoring proper pencil grip and correct letter formation! Have your student self-correct any backward letter or number! They should be gaining speed and accuracy in their copywork, by this point in the year.
Spelling (Assessment needing to be turned in this week)
Objective
1. To be able to spell words that have "nk" at the end.- We have already been practicing the phonogram nk in reading. In this lesson students will build upon their knowledge to apply the phonogram to spelling.
- Remember to begin each lesson by going over yellow phonogram cards and blue key cards.
- Assessment: What is Pink? Print here or do work in spelling journal. Directions are on the 1st page of the document. Please send me a pic of your child's work.
Science
Objectives:
1. Help child understand what lightning and thunder are and how they develop.
Geography- Lesson 15: Thunder and Lightning. Lesson plan can be found HERE. Read the mini book included in the lesson and then do the read to children section. The activity section would be fun especially if you want to challenge them with the math part! I have tried the experiment with the metal spoon and balloon previously and have not been able to get it to work for me. If you get it to work and get it on video I would love to see it!

2. To begin learning to draw the world map.
