Kinder Week 13 (T/TH)

Math 
Objectives: 
1.  To understand the concept of capacity.
2.  To recognize and match equal sets.
3.  To demonstrate understanding of 1-1 correspondence.
  • This week we are working on capacity and equal sets. The equal sets lesson is a great footing for your child to understand that equal means 'the same as' and not 'the answer is'. Please make sure to provide the hands-on capacity lessons at the bottom of the page for Tuesday.
Reading
Objectives: 
1.  To be able to read sentences with current sight words and CVC words.
2.  To be able to read and accurately blend words that end with a two consonant blend.

*Please note that there is a lesson assigned for Friday and another lesson assigned for Monday

Writing 
Objectives:
1. To  be able to form all upper case letters properly on handwriting lines. 
2. To be able to form all lower case letters properly on handwriting lines.
3. To be able to write name properly using only 1 capital letter.
4. To be able to write the alphabet on handwriting paper from memory.
  • Remember to continue handwriting practice on lined handwriting paper as well as HWT book.  
  • Have your child practice writing his/her name properly on handwriting lines using well formed lower case letters.
    Spelling
    Objectives: 
    1. To be able to alphabetize letter tiles.
    2  To be able to choose the correct short vowel sound when heard in a word.
    3.  To understand that every word has at least one vowel.
    • Now that we have emergent readers, our explicit spelling instruction has started! Please follow the break-up of the lesson on the table. 
    • You should have introduced blue key card #3 last Friday and will introduce key card #4 this Wednesday. Practice blue key cards along with phonogram cards daily.
    • The format of lessons will remain the same (starting with Step 6 or Lesson 7 in New AAS):  Every Friday the new "Step" will be introduced at home and we will work on it for a week. Spelling Journals  will come home on Thursday (but will not be used until next Wednesday).
      FRIDAY- Introduce "Step" and do lesson up to and including "Spell with Tiles."
      WEDNESDAY: Finish the lesson including "Spell on Paper"- Dictate the 10 words for your child to write in Spelling Journal. Practice "More Words" at home on dry erase board or in journal. Please make sure to reinforce proper letter formation and writing correctly on the lined pages in the journal.
    • ****Spelling Journals will need to come to school every school day so I can check them! (Bring every day- Blue folder, Math book, Math Journal, Spelling Journal

    Science
    Objectives: 
    1. To be able to name all 8 planets in order. (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune)
    2. To be able to give characteristics of each planet

    **Look for the information about the planets project in your child's folder after school on Thursday. Please spend some time next week researching some fun facts about the assigned planet and start planning how you are going to create your 3D model.


    Geography
    Objectives: 
    1. To be able to point to and say the northern states of the US on a map.
    2. To begin learning to draw the world map by drawing a compass rose, equator, and prime meridian.
    •  Due Thursday. Students will be required to sing the names of the States only. However, we will be pointing at them on the US map at school and you are welcome to print the map and do so as well. Click here for the Geography songs for the year.
    Memory Work
    • Please take a few minutes each homeschool day to review memory work! (Poem, Geography song)
    • Our poem, Hymn Of Joy will be assessed on 12/3.
